I finally decided to try the menstrual cup!
I’ve bought a menstrual cup once because, long time ago, my friend Serena Mammadalprimosguardo suggested me but it fell in the toilet, so I never had the chance to try it.
The month after I got pregnant of Ginevra. I didn’t buy it anymore.
After eighteen months from the second pregnancy my ovaries decided to start to work again (finally). I had again the discomfort of my period, more painful and most of all most more copious.
When we talk about menstruation, some women wiggle their nose, they don’t want to hear about it. Though from the other side menstruation are with us for long time (hopefully) we have to learn how to live with them since young age.
If is there a way to make those 5-7 days better every month, why not?
Honestly, I can say that since I use The Diva Cup I feel much better. Now I tell you why.
I’m no longer worried to get dirty. The menstrual cup has a bell shape and you put in inside the vaginal canal. Once is in the right way, it will collect the menstrual blood. Sounds like a horror scene like that…
My menstrual cup, The Diva Cup, guarantees 10/12 hours of protection without any discharge. I clean it and was it at least three times a day. Until now it never happened that I got my clothes or panties dirty.
No more skin irritation. Unfortunately, using pad can cause skin irritation. There has been an alarm about toxic substances like glyphosate, pesticides and dioxin. Products like pads and tampons have been banned from the market first in Argentina then in France and Canada, as confirmed by the French association for the protection of the consumer rights 60 Million Consumers.
The Diva Cup is available only in natural silicon non-pigmented because the skin and the vaginal walls can’t be exposed to dyes or chemicals products.
No more bad smell. The menstrual blood develops a bad smell if exposed to air or when is on the pad. With the menstrual cup there’s no risk because, as I said before, needs to be put inside the vaginal canal. You know that fresh and clean feeling?!
Economic saving. At the beginning buy a menstrual cup may seem more expensive than buy a tampons or pads. In a little investment that will pay back in few months because the menstrual cup is reusable. You just need to sterilize it in a pan of warm water at the beginning of each menstruation.
Pool anxiety. With the menstrual cup I won’t be worried to go to the pool, beach or yoga class anymore while I’m having my period. There is but you can’t see it. If inserted in the right way you don’t even know you’re wearing it.
There are different kind, brand and color of menstrual cups. You just need to pick the right one for you. Some prefers it softer and some prefers it more hard.
In my experience, The Diva Cup is the best and is available in two formats. Model 1 and Model 2. There’s a tiny difference between the two sizes. Is important to use the right size to avoid leakage:
Model 1 is recommended for women under 30 years that never gave vaginal or caesarean section birth.
Model 2 is recommended for women older than 30 years and/or for women who gave vaginal or caesarean section birth.
Easier than expected! Have you ever used a menstrual cup? If yes, how was your experience?
I received a The Diva Cup to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
